Where the deep green of pine trees meets the absolute turquoise of the sea, the Northern Sporades unfold—a terrestrial paradise that seems to have sprung from the pages of Greek mythology. The archipelago of Skiathos, Skopelos, and Alonissos, along with the countless uninhabited islets surrounding them, constitutes one of the most enchanting destinations in the Mediterranean, offering a rare combination of cosmopolitan flair, pristine nature, and authentic tradition.
By choosing Skiathos as the base for our three-day excursion, we embark on a unique maritime odyssey that unlocks all the secrets of the Northern Sporades. Staying in the cosmopolitan Chora, we enjoy the luxury of time to explore the island in depth, while our speedboat serves as the bridge to neighboring islands. During this three-day journey, Skiathos transforms from a mere destination into a strategic hub: one moment we are snorkeling at the Peristera shipwreck, and the next we are enjoying the sunset in Skopelos or the tranquility of the Alonissos Marine Park. It is the ideal way to experience the full geography and energy of the complex, returning each night to the vibrancy and comforts of Skiathos.
Skiathos, the most radiant and lively of the three, is an island that mesmerizes with its golden sandy beaches. From the iconic Lalaria with its pure white pebbles to the award-winning Koukounaries, Skiathos offers breathtaking imagery. Yet, it is also a place of spiritual depth, the homeland of Alexandros Papadiamantis, where the picturesque alleys of Chora and the historic Bourtzi fortress tell stories of centuries past.
A few miles to the east, Skopelos emerges as the “green island” of the Aegean. Now world-famous from the movie Mamma Mia!, Skopelos maintains a noble serenity. Its rugged coastlines hide geological secrets like Drakontoschisma, while its beaches, such as Panormos and Milia, resemble lakes embraced by dense forests. Its Chora, a preserved traditional settlement with a Venetian castle and countless small churches, stands as a prime example of Aegean architecture.
For those seeking the ultimate connection with nature, Alonissos is the perfect destination. In the heart of Europe’s largest National Marine Park, the island offers a sanctuary of peace. Here, time flows slower. The Blue Caves, the ancient shipwreck of Peristera, and deserted islands like Kyra Panagia compose a scenery of “wild” beauty, where Mediterranean monk seals find their home.
With Seanthesy Cruises, the Sporades reveal their true face. Away from mass tourism, with the freedom provided by our modern speedboat, you have the opportunity to approach untouched beaches, swim in waters that only the sea can reveal, and experience island hopping with style and safety. Whether you seek the intensity of Skiathos, the elegance of Skopelos, or the pristine truth of Alonissos, the Sporades is a place you don’t just visit—you experience it with all your senses.
